This hurts my heart to write this because I want to like this place soooooo bad. Small town diners are what I live for. I went a week or so ago for the first time and will give it a second try and can hopefully give a high rating.
I read the rave review of the pancakes, and this guy LOVES pancakes. On the fence between oatmeal and pumpkin, I opted for pumpkin. The fact that I was able to get this in March made me a happy guy.
To my dismay, I should've picked up some powdered donuts and buttered them up. It would've been more moist. They tasted like sugar. I didn't get any cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin flavor I was so desperately hoping for. Just super sweetness. They were very dry as well. I love a nice moist pancake and was bummed it didn't happen.
Another lesson, don't order grits north of the Mason Dixon line. I keep forgetting everybody does instant or minute maid grits without seasoning or butter. My bad on that. I have to try the oatmeal pancakes and give this joint redemption. Service was very good and ambiance was perfect, hence 3 stars.
