| - Sometimes I want the newest hotel on the block even if it's The Red Roof, but sometimes I feel like I need a bit of boutique in my life. If you're feeling like the latter, The Saguaro will take care of you with boutique mittens.
First, the few bad things: 1. It is outside entry, which can lead a woman traveling solo (like myself) to fret about every knock on the door and every bump in the night. 2. It is a sprawling property, which can be inconvenient. For example, if your key becomes deactivated, it will require a hike back to the front desk. 3. If you plan on staying in your room all day, the pool music is bumping. You may as well give in and go to the pool.
However, the thing it has going for it: character. If The Saguaro were your friend, it would be that one friend that is up for anything at anytime. The pools are beautiful. The hotel bar flows deep in whiskey. And, the restaurant serves up some solid food three meals a day. It delivers everything you want if you want to get away.
The rooms are comfortably eccentric. The toiletries are high quality. There is a Keurig machine in your room. The bed is snooze-inducing. The bathroom may be a tad dated, but it wasn't terrible.
And, above, all, there is plenty of service with a smile. I think it's a great spot for a weekend escape, a pool side party or for a little corporate retreat. There's plenty to keep you entertained, plenty of opportunities to relax and lots of public space for hanging out.
