I had heard about Soergel from a co-worker and decided to check it out after work earlier this week. As I pulled into the parking lot, I was very surprised that (a) Soergel is huge and (b) Soergel is located conveniently near 79.
I started in the front and main grocery building. I didn't take a good look at all of their fruits and veggies, but from a distance, they looked delicious. I wandered around the little bakery section and was a bit disappointed by both selection and by ingredients. I was expecting bakery products made from minimal, quality ingredients, which did not seem to be the case.
However, the main reason that I was at Soergel was to check out a special grocery building particularly for dietary restrictions. I actually didn't notice it at first, so don't feel badly having to ask an associate how to get there. The focus of this little shop was primarily for gluten-free and vegan diets. As someone with some nut and soy allergies, I did find a few things that would work for me. My best find? I'm obsessed with Nutella but was diagnosed with a hazelnut allergy recently. They carry a delightful dark chocolate and peanut butter mixture that is similar to Nutella and very delicious.
