| - What a disaster!
Our experience at this restaurant was shocking and appalling! I recently visited my family in Pittsburgh. As a treat, my sister set up a lunch for 9 of us at the restaurant here and had confirmed our reservation well in advance. To our surprise when we arrived, they told us we would have to sit in the bar because they had a bridle shower in the main dining room. The bar area reeked of smoke, yet they refused to set us up in the empty banquet room because the only person who was available to wait on us was the bartender. Grudgingly, we agreed hoping that we would get in and out before any smokers arrived. No such luck. Minutes after we were seated a couple of chain smokers were also seated in the bar area. I thought my aunt, who is in her mid-seventies, was going to pass out. To top it off, we were left sitting there for about an hour, sucking in smoke waiting for food. No bread or anything to hold us over was offered. I actually thought they forgot about us. Six people ordered omelets and 3 ordered sandwiches - how could that take an hour! Multiple people had to leave the table to get a breath of fresh air while we waited. The food was fine, but the atmosphere spoiled everything and the hubris of a restaurant taking a reservation for a party of 9 and not mentioning the only available seating would be in a smoking area left a bitter foul taste. Overall, what was meant to be a memorable reunion was turned into a horrible, horrendous encounter with poor management and thoughtlessness.
