| - So I found myself wondering the hotel looking for food after a very long morning of meetings. I had heard about China Poblano but couldn't totally wrap my head around Chinese Mexican fusion. But extreme hunger and the lure of the fluorescent pink sign outside lured me in to give it a shot.
I walked over to the hostess still a little unsure of what I was getting myself involved with. She sat me at the bar and highly recommended trying the chef's experience since I was solo. I explored their menu and looked over the Chef's experience menu and decided that I would go with her recommendation.
First and foremost let me just tell you for $45.00 this is about as much as a bargain as you will find food wise on the strip! There was so much food!!! Initially when I looked over the menu I thought that I was going to have to choose an item from each of the sections on the menu, it wasn't until I saw someone else sitting near me eating that I realized I get EVERYTHING from the Chef's Experience menu. Holy Moly!!!!!
My waiter suggested a great cocktail that wasn't on their regular drink menu, I am stoked that I went with his suggestion and tried this absolutely amazing cocktail. I can't remember exactly what was in the drink but it was a crazy delicious cocktail that had hibiscus and tequila. If you go, I highly highly recommend trying this drink.
With the Chef's Experience I was served the following,
Chips & Salsa
Tuna Ceviche Spoon
Traditional Siu Mai
Snow Pea Leaf Salad
Carnitas Taco
Shrimp Mojo
Twenty Veggie Fried Rice
Mango Sticky Rice
I was initially served my chips and salsa, the salsa was pretty good. I was then served a single Siu Mai with gold leaf flakes on top. I wasn't blown away by the Siu Mai, but it was good but likely one of the more forgotten about parts of the meal.
The Tuna Ceviche Spoon was really well balanced and it had the right about of acid/salt and heat. My absolute favorite part of the meal was the Snow Pea Leaf Salad. It was just delicious. It consisted of Pea Shoots, Snow Peas, Orange, Lily Bulb, Walnuts, and Pomegranate Seeds with a sesame dressing. It was just so refreshing and well balanced that I will be going home to try to recreate this salad. The Carnitas taco was pretty good, the tortilla was delicious and the pork was super tender but I felt like it could have used a little more heat and maybe a little more cilantro. But that's my own personal preference. I like things a little spicy and I am a huge fan of cilantro. I put a little bit of the sauce that was served with my Siu Mai on my taco and I thought it added an interesting element to the taco. The Shrimp Mojo was also like the Siu Mai and was a little on the forgettable side. I felt like it really just fell flat flavor wise. The Twenty Veggie Fried Rice was really good, I LOVED how they put a bit of the Snow Pea Leaf Salad on top of the rice, It really lightened up the dish. The Mango Sticky Rice was the perfect way to end the meal. It was super refreshing and delicious.
I am honestly surprised that this place doesn't high a higher rating on yelp. From my experience it was really delicious and prices were on point. Service was a little spotty at times and I was stuck with multiple dirty plates in front of me during my coursing but those things are all easy to fix.
Next time I am in Vegas and not solo I will be back and am excited to see what delicious items they feature from their full menu.
