After some adventures off road, I had done some damage to the crank arms on my Marin Bike. This is the first time I have had to turn to them for service work. I found the girl I was dealing with in their service department very rude and condesending. After spending o $400 to fix my bike with a new crank. On the way home the chain kept falling off and I noticed the front end to be very loose. I walked the bike back to the shop. I was told by the same girl who sold me the parts and service that they installed the crank and parts, but were not told to align the gears. She also told me the front end was loose because they did not have the specialized tool to tighten up the front end. The new crank incuded new gear set for the front. I could not beleive they charged me close to $100 to install the crank, but would not have at least checked to to see if the gears were aligned. I ask the girl what I was to do now and all she said was "your in a pickle now, arn't you". I walked the now unridable bike home and with the help of a neighbor set up the gears properly in about 5 minutes. I also found out the special tool needed for the front of the bike is a 1/4" 6pt socket. This is one of the most common sockets in a standard socket set. I am amazed that a large bike shop like this would not have a 1/4" socket. I spent about $500 TO $600 a year in parts here. I will be spending nothing here in the comming years. Next year my wife and I will be looking for new road bikes, we will most likley be spending enough to buy a new small car. But, we definatly will not be spending it here!
