They opened SouthPark the same year I moved to Charlotte in 1970.
It was an experience and a destination even then and much of the surrounding area was still open fields and meadows.
Totally chanced and little to remind you of those early days. SouthPark has only gotten bigger and more opulent.
Myriad of stores offering something for everyone.
This review is on SouthPark at Christmas. My wife loves to come here during Christmas to see the decorations, battle the crowds and shop till she drops.
This year was no different and she enjoyed it. I have a bit of a problem walking so I sat near one of the fountains near the entrance and just enjoyed watching the people have fun. Decorations are not as extravagant as they have been in years past which while simpler, their lower key makes a much greater impact.
One minor change I did not was the valet parking. Rather than give a ticket, they message a ticket to you instead. They should close the loop on this one and when the customer pulls up the ticket to check out, it should signal an attendant at that time to get the car. That way, you are not waiting for them to pull the car up.
The do also now offer limousine service to other malls and destination in the area including the airport and uptown as well which is new.
