| - This is a bakery/cafe and it functions very well in both respects.
The bread is very good, worth every penny. It is consistent, baked fresh, and has just enough variety to keep most people satisfied (although I could live with more variety). The sweets are also very good; in my opinion the best item sold here are the almost danishes...they taste like a danish with marzipan in the middle, and are absolutely wonderful.
This cafe also serves food and can be a good place to get lunch. The soups are consistently excellent, and the sandwiches (on the bread of course) are always good.
The atmosphere is nice, slightly trendy/urban; there is a clean tile floor, neat chairs, stools, and tables; very good jazz is usually playing. It's not exactly a cozy place, it has more of a "sophisticated" feel to it; a bit more fast-paced and less laid-back, but very nice. One can chat with friends or enjoy a cup of tea while watching the street--a very active place in the heart of the Cedar/Lee business district.
As the other reviewer pointed out, there is not a single place in the Cleveland area that resembles this one. As such, it is greatly appreciated and is always quite busy.
Parking is around back in the municipal lot--beware, the Cleveland Heights Police regularly patrol the lot on foot and exhibit the utmost vigilance when it comes to spotting cars parked at expired meters. The tickets, however, are quite affordable.
