| - Seems like everybody hates this Ikea store, or so I would think when I read the reviews of fellow Yelpers. Well, it is to hate sometimes. It is a zoo and when there are too many people one easily feels lost in the standard Ikea store setup. But somehow I still have warm feelings when I enter this specific Ikea, simply because it is the first I visited when I moved to Canada and after living in other countries around the world I finally felt home in Montreal. Yes, Ikea is the same all over the world. Quality of the products used to be much more better years ago and furniture much more functional. Unfortunately the Swedish standard and simplicity has given up to consumerism, and mass prodiction. Regardless I still go to ikea when I need a modular furniture that allows for some flexibility and gives you the options to apply your own design. Besides that Ikea is cheap. The food store has some wonderful goodies, lingonberry preserve, dry bread, I recently bought grounded organic coffee and it turned out to be pretty good. The cinnamon buns are major attraction, not bad, but believe me far away from the real ones baked in Sweden. So, I just came back from Ikea today after few days exhausting research about specific furniture and lights. The mission was finally accomplished, but I swear I would not set foot in Ikea for months to come as I had it with the Boxing day crowds. Regardless Ikea gets four stars due to my personal affection.
