| - We had some friends in town so we went to Harrah's over Memorial Day weekend for two reasons, first was to eat some oysters at their oyster bar, second was to get tickets to the High Roller. Of course, being Memorial Day weekend Saturday, it was packed...all of the Strip was packed. We ate Oysters at the Oyster Bar...see the other review for that place, then we got our tickets...not too bad except you have to go up to the third floor, which in itself isn't too bad but there is one of those desks at the entrance where a sweet little old lady tries to sell you tickets only after you listen to their pitch on buying a time share...shady. These time share folks shouldn't be allowed in the casino, especially since they are easier to find than the actual ticket booth. So, why the one-star rating you ask? The cocktail waitresses and the gambling.
HORRIBLE service!! We were there for at least a half an hour, sitting at a machine playing, before we were able to flag down a waitress to place an order for cocktails. This would seem so bad especially on a busy weekend, except we were sitting RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE WAITRESS STAND! We must have seen 5 different waitresses walk past us, look right at us waving and they just kept on going. Not so much as a "hello" or "I'll be right there" or even a "this isn't my section". When I finally flagged one down, she gave me attitude immediately for flagging her down. She was a bit older than most Vegas cocktail waitresses (they all seemed to be), looked tired and a bit pissed off because she has to wear a thong and nylons to work, but hey, that's the job. If you don't want to make tips and serve people than perhaps anything customer service isn't your field of work. She reluctantly brought our drinks, my wife's drink was awful (definitely not a rum & coke) so we had to wait for to re-bring the drink. We tipped her anyway (we're locals and we try not to be jerks). Then we forgot about the whole thing and moved on to the craps table because we heard cheering. Which brings me to the next reason for the one star rating...HORRIBLE DEALERS!
Craps is a fast game, you should know what you're doing, especially at a table where most bets were around $50. The dealer had a really hard time paying out. He messed up EVERY PAYMENT, was late taking bets, kept looking at the other dealers to see if he was doing it right (he wasn't), and kept calling the wrong numbers. I have played craps in a ton of casinos and this dealer was the worst I have ever seen. What makes this even more pathetic is that the pit boss was standing right there and NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT!! She was just watching this fiasco and not helping at all. She didn't call for help, another dealer to help with the fast paced and pricey game, or even acknowledge the complaints from the players. She just stood there looking stupid. She probably didn't know what to do about it anyway. As we were cashing out we told the ladies in the cage and they didn't seem to shocked by it. This obviously happens more frequently than expected. Bottom line, don't bother gambling at Harrah's. There are so many better casinos on the strip.
