| - Length of stay: 3 nights
Room location: Room number 637 - an accessible room.
View: Not much of a view from the balcony in this room. Roof top and mountains in the distance.
Cleanliness: The room, carpet and furniture were clean. Rooms were renovated two years ago and according to the Bellman, they steam clean the carpet's once a month. A room service tray was left outside of the room for the entire day.
Kitchenette stuff: The refrigerator was larger than most small refrigerators, and thankfully, not stocked, and kept things very cold. There is a small sink; a small amount of counter-space; and a small cupboard. There is a one cup coffee maker, but Starbucks is only two blocks away, so I didn't bother with it. No microwave, so we had one brought up - no extra charge.
Parking: Fast valet service. Full hotel and we never had to wait for our car. They always offered complimentary water. Valet park is $16 a day and self park is $12 a day. You need to also budget for tips when you choose to valet. There was plenty of street parking while we were there and our visitors found hotel front parking easily.
The room: This room is a two queen room and the beds were very comfortable - the foldout couch bed - not at all comfortable. The accessible room does not have the privacy doors that the other rooms have between the sleeping area and the living room. Plenty of drawers and closet space, but suggest request extra hangers at check-in.
There are two large flatscreen LG wall mounted television sets. I liked that you can log into your own Netflix or other internet account.
No complaints about the shower or bathroom. I believe because this is an accessible room, there is a full length mirror in the bathroom. Hotel bathroom lighting is always the worst for putting on make up, and this one was no exception. There is no room safe.
Food: Room Service Breakfast was on time. All special requests were met. Breakfast for three ran $60 with the 20% gratuity included. The food was surprisingly good. However, there are some great breakfast places within walking distance, so if we stay there again, I will definitely skip the room service. The room service menu was quite limited, so we opted to bring in our own food.
Hospitality: The front desk always answered on the first ring and were very accommodating. There were no surprises on the bill when we checked out, which is always nice.
Location: You can walk anywhere you need to, except maybe a grocery or drugstore. Old town has lots to see and some very interesting and unique shops and other points of interest.
We were warned about limited local parking, but never really had any trouble finding parking. Maybe because everyone else was riding the rental bikes and taking the golf cart taxis.
Bottom line: Service makes or breaks your stay at any hotel. And the service here was as good as any at other more posh places. Amenity wise, it is not a resort or a five-star hotel. However it is good for what it is, a comfortable hotel in a popular tourist location. All in all, it was a relaxing, enjoyable weekend. And if you want to walk around old town Scottsdale, the location can't be beat.
Rating: The service was a 5 - I don't think they could have done any better. The room service menu - limited and overpriced - a 2. The room service food quality was better than expected - a 3 to 4. Cleanliness - a 3 to 4. Comfort - beds and pillows - a 4 - 5 for one occupant per queen sized bed. Fold out bed comfort - a 2. Location of room - a 3. Lack of room safe, charge for parking, lack of activities/amenities ... All things considered, a 3.5, which I will round up to 4.
Recommendation: if you are looking for a comfortable, 'popular location' hotel, and don't plan on spending a lot of time in your room, this one is suitable. If you are looking for amenities and a nice hotel resort experience, I would shop around at some of the other resorts in the area. I would rate this as a second or third choice. Based on some of the other reviews, it seems that each room comes with its own experience. So, I think familiarizing yourself with specific rooms may be beneficial. However, I heard the front desk say that rooms are assigned according to availability. So there may be some difficulty in requesting specific rooms.
