  • When other reviewers say this place is ghetto, they are not kidding. I think you would actually have a hard time finding a place that is equally as 80s-looking, take-out smelling, brightly lit, and lame as this one, but then again, I've been there three times. I was referred to one of their stylists, who we'll call R (he has a Mexican name), and was shocked when I came into the salon. "Salon and spa" were used quiet loosely here. Anyways, the salon is HUGE, and smells like hair color gone bad, take out, and hair wax. Disgusting, really. Stations are very dusty, and they are in serious need of someone sweeping their floors. The lighting is bright and cheap-looking. Stylists do not look professional at all, either. I have had more comfortable experiences at the obgyn than at their shampoo stations (if you suffer from neck pain, skip the shampoo!). The products they use also smell cheap. Fake plants adorn some corners of the salon. Even the mirrors are dirty. This is as ghetto as it gets, or at least, the most ghetto I have ever visited. My stylist, R., is actually good at what he does, but do not expect anything spectacular (again, I did not expect a masterful job for someone I am paying around $25 for cut and style). If you're looking for a quiet, relaxing experience, R. is not the stylist for you. You cannot go too crazy with the style you are expecting either. In other words, if you're in for a trim, or for an easy haircut (nothing too modern or slightly complex), you may take the ghetto ambiance for his cheap prices. A blowout with R. is mediocre, at best. My hair rarely frizzes in this desert climate, yet every time R. blow dries my hair, it seems to frizz up. I also suspect his hair tools are dirty, which I try to oversee when I'm tight for money. I think I would rather save up and visit another salon than ever go back to this place. Even though I believe R. would do okay in another setting, he has told me he is not willing to pay any more than what he already does at Mia Bella. As far as punctuality, I have always arrived on time and been seated on time (it was not a problem, ever). The bottom line is that this "salon and spa" is soooo fugly, stinky, and dirty that I cannot allow myself to go back.
