| - This is not a bad place to go and spend an evening at all, it's quite, romantic and relaxing. My wife and I started going to Sassi about 2 years ago for our anniversary and our first experience was amazing. However since then our experience has been less than impressive, especially for the price. We started out the meal with an order of Polpettini which came out about 30 seconds after we ordered it, which leads me to believe they are not made to order. The flavors were ok but overall bland and unimpressive, the best part of it was dipping the bread in the meatball broth. For our first course we had the Ricotta Gnocchi in mushroom herb sauce. This was the BEST part if the meal. The gnocchi were light and fluffy, and the sauce complimented it nicely. For our main course my wife ordered the Porcini Crusted Veal Chop, and honestly for $38 was a joke, the flavor was nice but half of it was fat, so in the end we paid $38 for 5oz of veal. For myself I ordered the Pork Ossobuco. It was ok, but very mediocre. The meat did fall right off the bone, but the flavors just weren't there. Unfortunately I just don't see us returning to Sassi anytime soon. Maybe it's us, maybe we have unrefined pallets, but I would rather spend $45 at Brio and be satisfied, then spend $100+ at Sassi feeling disappointed. Overall if I had to recommend any changes for this establishment it would be to lower their prices about 20% and consider hiring an additional chef who is a bit more bold or adventurous with their recipes. As I said earlier, our complaint isn't that the food was cooked poorly, but that it was bland and uninspiring.
