The trend of heinens decline continues. Clearly they are spending too much time focusing on stores in Chicago and downtown Cleveland to focus on the loyal suburban shoppers. Even shopping at the shaker store where it all started is not what it used to be. The stores further in the burbs are sometimes a little better - but because of their central distribution strategy, much of everything that is prepared, or the meat and fish is exactly the same. The butcher / meat selection at the shaker and s. green store is pretty close to horrible - a recent visit on a Saturday morning in the summer yielded me leaving because they did not have any steaks (I mean ANY) that were cut over a half inch thick. Either they are realizing that their market is changing as the people with money go to whole foods, or they just don't care anymore and are focusing on their pre-made foods - which are pretty gross. In this case I would rather give my money to the publicly traded company vs the local business.
