Suprised that I've lived in Phoenix so long and hadn't discoverd 5th Avenue Cafe. Thank you Yelp for giving me the tip on my smartphone.
There are freakin' few breakfast restaurants, except trendy expensive places, that serve alcohol. Being the day after Christmas a Bailey's 'n coffee sounded pretty good. No problem.
While my brain pointed me toward a lighter side, I ended up with their corned beef hash, which I'm pretty sure is made on premises. I topped that with a couple of poached eggs (I almost expected them to tell me no-way, but they cheerfully took the order). Not being the biggest potato fan I opted for fresh fruit, which was more than adequete. An order of raisin toast rounded out the meal.
1) Price - superb. didn't see anything over $10
2) Food quality - a few notches above average and way above fast food chains
3) Service - GREAT! Only thing is they seem to throw multiple servers at you
4) Ambience - pretty cool. Kind of a musical theme.
5) Clientele - mostly older vets it seems. Nice guys.
6). Value - For me (a light eater) it was perfect, but the portions are a bit on the small side.
This is one place I will be back. For breakfast and for lunch. It's just a good feeling place, and there are so few of them left.
