  • I recommend you give Jack Frost a try next time you have an excuse to pick up a dozen donuts. The store only takes cash, so plan accordingly. The good: They have a great selection of fry cake (which seemed denser) and traditional (less dense) donuts. Their basics (glazed, plain, frosted) and cream or jelly filled/topped ranged from good to excellent. What I really loved about it is that they have a HUGE selection of all kinds of flavors from the bold (e.g. maple bacon) to more traditional (e.g. toasted coconut). Their flavors are not labeled or listed anywhere in the store that I noticed, making the experience somewhat overwhelming your first trip. Luckily, the person behind the counter was really friendly and walked us through all of the flavors, so it was not really an issue. The bad: Logistics are an issue - it is in Old Brooklyn, and if you don't live there it is a trek. It is worth noting that they are right down the road from the B.A. Sweetie Candy Company. If you have never been to BA Sweetie's, it is worth stopping by. While this extra stop somewhat mitigates the distance traveled, it is a *lot* of junk food to but in one trip. Also, the store has a tiny parking lot and is at a weird intersection. While the product Jack Frost makes is pretty good, they seemed to be on the sweeter end. Luckily all of those downsides can be addressed through planning and a bit of self control.
