  • Environment and Location 3/5 I went to the College Street location which was a bit tricky to find since it's up two flights of stairs. The building is very old-looking and the elevator looked frailed and vintage (similar to the one at Elgin / Winter Garden Theatre) but not maintained well. The actual office however was brightly lit and seemed to have taken two or more units in the corner. The downside I found was the room I was in lacked mirrors. I was not able to review the waxing service to make sure I was satisfied. Quality of Service 2/5 I had Ann and found it to be very painful. She was professional and fake-friendly while performing the service, but the actual service was far too painful. More painful than traditional wax + strip. I have a high pain tolerance so was surprised by the pain in this waxing method. The sugar wax would be twisted/wrapped around my hair and pulled. It literally felt like getting slapped really hard while also getting multiple hairs pulled from the roots. She mentioned my hair was very thick to explain why she had to go back to work several spots but really, that shouldn't be a problem because experienced waxers would know how much pressure/pull to use. I believe she was also pulling in the directions of the hair-growth because I've never felt this pain before... This was my first time sugar waxing and from this excruciating painful experience, it isn't for me. I noticed after 5 days, I can feel the stubbles / hair-growth in the area that was performed. I'm also starting to get little zits/bumps even though (as instructed) I kept the area clean and dry for 48-hours. With traditional waxing, I am able to at least get 1-2 weeks of smoothness before feeling the stubs again. Customer Service - Friendliness 4/5 Overall, staff are young-looking and friendly. I'm not sure, perhaps because they are young they may not have that much experience but I honestly do not want to age-discriminate as many millennials get written off by that from baby boomers. I feel their clients are different as I'm Asian (not South Asian) while most of the clients I saw / bumped into were Caucasian, so they have finer hair. Price 4/5 It was my first time using sugar wax and given my experience, I will not be trying it again. I'm sensitive to facial waxing but other body parts, I am fine so was surprised by the pain. I found the price to be the same as traditional waxing but I'm not too sure with other sugar waxing salons. I would recommend signing up if you were curious (get 20% off) before paying full price. I got an email with a 10% discount for specific dates and times. Online booking is preferred but be sure to arrive at least 15-mins earlier than your actual appointment because it is very time-sensitive. I felt it's more time-based than actual quality of removal service. It was a 15-min treatment time-slot and felt very rushed even though I was there before my actual appointment. Comment I'm still looking for a new waxing salon so if there are any recommendations along TTC's "U" line please let me know. ;)
