| - This hotel is a mixed bag. Many pros and cons, so here we go.
PROS:
Friendly staff, including Front of House, Dining, and Housekeeping.
Nice to have a well appointed kitchenette.
Bathroom was nicely equipped as well.
Beds were pretty comfortable, even the sofa bed.
Hotel was quiet.
Good location a few blocks from Alexis Nihon and Atwater Metro. Lots of dining options as well.
SO-SO:
Breakfast buffet is abundant, but quality is middling. Eggs were old and hard, bacon was not great quality. And this is Montreal...where are the goddamned croissants?
Housekeeping didn't show up til 3:30PM and did an only average job of cleaning.
AC worked very well, but was on the loud side.
It's sort of wishful thinking on the part of the hotel to say that it's located in Westmount. It's NEAR Westmount, but closer to Shaugnessy Vill. Any excursion into Westmount proper will require a taxi or train ride.
CONS:
Old, shabby, scratched, in need of paint. This hotel's rooms need a remodel in the worst way.
The parking garage...don't get me started. Thank god I have a smallish car.
The elevators suck my ass. They seem to have minds of their own and stop at floors randomly.
Wifi in rooms was painfully slow. You can pay for an upgrade.
Really quite pricey relative to what you get; we paid over $220 CAD a night for what I consider to be an only 2.5 star experience. (We showed up unbeknownst for St. Jean Baptiste day, so maybe there was a markup).
Overall, I'd recommend this as a family hotel or for someone who is used to the no-frills life. As for me, I'm not going back. The whole experience was just not for this luxury-hound. There are scores of better places to stay in Montreal!
