| - Like many, I was introduced to The Wine Butler via Groupon. Even without the deal, going the make-your-own-wine route definitely scores you savings on a volume basis (as long as you are okay to buy 25-30 bottles of wine at a go).
We selected a Pinot Grigio (which I find is a great barometer of quality), and we were satisfied with the outcome.
We were really scared when we came back to bottle, because we were told to sample the wine remainder that wouldn't comprise a whole last bottle, and to be honest it tasted really watered-down, but after we brought our little babies home, the wine was better (not sure, maybe they gave us really wet glasses at sampling?). Not stellar, but not swill.
The place is large, and seemed to be staffed by a lot of millenials, which is good and bad. Good because if you want, you're left to your own devices for any stage you want, but bad because they all seemed to not really have any real passion for the process, nor any real depth of knowledge.
There are better outfits out there, but worth a Groupon-inspired visit.
