| - This was our second stay in 2 years at this specific hotel and will likely be our last. Our last stay was very nice, clean, and resulted in us coming back. As we searched hotels to stay this time, the "Newly Renovated Rooms" caught my eye. Evidently, we were put into the ONE room that wasn't renovated. Additionally, basic customer service pleasantries and manners are grossly lacking here. I was never greeted during check-in, not as an SPG member, but a basic, "hey, welcome and thank you for choosing the Sheraton Crescent!" After we got settled the first night, we pulled out our daughter's "new sleeper sofa" and were shocked at the amount of hair, dirt, and crumbs from previous stays...I have pictures available. I called the front desk to explain and through a lack of humility was told, "okay, we'll send someone right up". After almost 40 minutes of waiting, as our daughter fell asleep on our bed, I finally took the bedding to the front desk to conduct the swap myself. Once again, absolutely zero apologies for the disgusting bedding and my inconvenience, and I had to make a motion to the front desk staff as to say, "here are the filthy sheets"...I guess they thought I'd carry them some more around the hotel. I had to go back up to my room and finally got my replacements and we pressed on.
I won't go into too many details regarding the cold and absolutely filthy breakfast buffet as it was free, but when you're checking in 3 or 4 sports teams, I'd think you'd expect they're ALL going to wipe out the buffet. Clearly, they weren't prepared for that and we were made to sit, "in the back" as if the poor buffet eaters were somehow subordinate to those that ordered breakfast from the menu. It's a shame that when choosing hotels, the lower priced/lower tier chains offer better breakfast and better hospitality.
Last, when responding, if you choose, please refrain from telling me that your "key priorities are to provide the highest level of friendly and courteous service and that this has highlighted a number of opportunities for our engineering, housekeeping and food & beverage teams". Basic customer service skills and a humble and appreciative attitude in a competition, customer-service based industry are basic tools to get customers to return and recommend you to others.
