  • Situation: I recently acquired a three year old Toyota Camry - my first white colored vehicle. It was prepped well by the dealer and signed off on (mechanically) by my own mechanic. The mechanic noted that the paint had some oxidation that had eluded my attention in the bright light of day. Having owned and cared for many cars over the last 35 years (something that I take pride in), I thought this would be something I could easily tackle on the weekend. Unfortunately, this was not the case -- my own efforts and that of two "professional" detailers were unsuccessful in returning the cars "like new" luster. Under most lighting conditions, the car's paint still appeared to be dull and badly sun-damaged. Several paint shops refused to commit to anything short of completely repainting the vehicle at prices ranging from $5,000-$8,000. Given my obsession with maintaining and preserving the value of my big ticket purchases, I was nervous about trying another "detailer". Solution: I found Peter quite by accident and asked him to stop by the next time he was on my end of town. Peter spent 20-30 minutes examining the vehicle before providing me with three options (prices ranging from $400-$1600) and carefully explaining both the process and likely outcome for each option. Peter struck me as a straight-forward, hard working young man that was worthy of my trust. All of this allowed me to balance my passion for "keeping my cars looking like new" with my vehicles intended purpose (in this case, getting my son through college without being embarrassed by his mode of transportation). I chose a multi-stage, color sanding process that was followed by a paint sealant and polish. This was the mid-point option that would lead to a "like new" but not quite "showroom" finish. Outcome: I am pleased that my son's vehicle now has the "like new" finish of a 1-2 year old, well-cared for vehicle. Peter lived up to my trust and some. I found Peter to be a very likable person and most accommodating of my busy work schedule. Peter delivered an outstanding value -- high quality work at a fair price.
