| - I have no idea how someone could give Donna only 1 star! She is AMAZING! I am almost 30 and just got out of the military....and decided to learn how to sew to fill up my free time. I had bought a sewing machine last year, but never used it, and had no sewing experience.
The first time I met Donna was at Joann's. She takes you on a shopping trip to the Joann's location closest to your house, so that you can get familiar with your store, which I thought was really cool. There was no time limit, and she really goes through everything important throughout the whole store- how to look for deals, what kinds of things to buy, what brands to stay away from, etc- and she works with whatever budget you tell her you have. I learned SO much that day, and Donna was so sweet I couldn't wait for my sewing lesson.
So far we have had 2 lessons. I like that Donna comes over to my house, so that I can in my own environment and using my equipment. She starts with the very basics ( making a potholder), but it teaches you how to use your machine, and before I knew it, I've made one adorable pair of pajama bottoms and a dress (plus a bunch of potholders haha!).
As far as her pricing goes... I think it's a steal! Yes, there is a charge for the shopping trip, but she explains everything to you, gives you all the coupons she has, won't let you buy things not on sale, introduces you to people there, and takes as much time as necessary ( I think we were there almost 2 hours)... all for about 25 bucks. The lessons are a little bit more expensive, but she stays for at least 3 hours usually, and really makes sure that you accomplish something in each class, which I love because you come away from each lesson feeling proud of yourself.
Honestly, it is a little nerve-wracking trying to pick someone to come to your home and spend hours upon hours with, and I am so glad I went with Donna. She is hysterical and professional, and really makes you feel comfortable around her. I would and have recommended her to my friends, and will definitely be coming back!
