  • I am not sure why so many people are raving about this place, it has to be the view and the service only. We went for an early Valentine's day dinner with reservations at 6:30pm, we showed up a little before that time and were told we would be seated early which would have been great beacuse the sun was setting, except for th fact that they left us seated back in an area where all we had a view of was people showing up after us and getting seated right away and a banquet room down a floor below the restaurant. Twice they came to us asking what the name was when clearly they were very confused and left us sitting longer in the waiting area. We both ordered drinks, I was craving a Bloody Mary and my husband a dirty Martini, It came so fast I was questioning what it was going to taste like. One sip of my Bloody Mary and it was obvious they just took vodka and a can of Bloody Mary mix poured it in a glass threw in some olives and said here ya go. My husband's Martini was very plain and not dirty and tasted like it came from a simple sports bar, both did not taste like something you would get from an almost 5 star restaurant. Once seated it was disappointing that we were seated at a table that was very close, almost in fron of. the one half of a double door that lead to the outdoor seating area. So close they had to shut half of the door and not use it since we were seated so close. Both of us had not had lunch so needless to say we had an appetite to please. Looking forward to a spectacular meal we ordered, I ordered the endive salad to start and a special they were having at that time which was Halibut with purple mashed potatoes with Artichoke and Asparagus in a lemon sauce. My husband ordered the Berkshire Pork Belly appetizer with some kind of bean sauce and the Vanilla Brandy Poached Lobster, I really wish I would have brought a camera and taken pictuires of what was served, I have to say they did bring bread before anything and that was excellent, also along with the bread they had a small dish with 3 separate areas and about a tablespoon of each, maple butter, pesto sauce and some goat cheese sauce, hardly enough for 6 or 7 slices of bread. BTW this was my favorite part of our whole experience, the bread was great! Hubby gets his pork Belly appetizer and is very pleased, except it was a $6.00 pice of meat that they charged $14.00 for. Next came my endive salad, it came on a big plate with half of it out lined with about 8 Endive leaves and the rest of the plate was drizzled with what they called some kind of vinagarette and spinkles with crumbs of something, but it was truly comical how this looked, this huge plate with a few leaves of endive with some canned oranges they added for color. It looked like a 7 year old threw it together and also about the amount a 7 year old could eat. Next came our meal, the halibut dish looked great, nice size but very dry, the artichoke had some hard leaves left in it so that was not good picking that out of my mouth since it was unchewable, disappointing for $38.00 My husband's Lobster came and it was a claw and 2 other bits of lobster not even 4 oz of it , a couple of lobster raviioli that was full of what tasted like mostly cheese, it was crazy that they charged $42.00 for lobster bits which is what it should be called. His appetizer was bigger than his dinner. My husband asked the waiter what and if they had a signature drink and he said "yes, we have a full menu" uh, yah, ok forget it. He also asked our waiter for a chardaonnay to have with dinner and the waiter brought a 1/4 glass of wine which we found out later was $17.00 a glass. We thought ok, lets take dessert to go, how can they mess up dessert, well, they did. I ordered chocolate cream with Bruleed bananas, I didn't know the restaurant had only one banana for all the deserts that evening at least that is what it felt like I got about a 1/4 cup of something that resembled chocolate and had heavy cream in it with 2 small slices of bananas on top it was a joke and they charged $10.00 for that. My husbands was just as small and lacked any flavor other than Chocolate, it was called balsamic chocolate and cherry cake. at the end of it all our bill was $175.00 and we were so diappointed, my recommendation with be to go there for a beer and watch the sun set and don't eat, ask for bottled beer because you never know what you might get if you ask for anything else. You may end up paying $15.00 for a shot glass full of something else.
