| - I'm not a stranger to shaved ice desserts *cough* grew up on halo-halo *cough* but snows are a whole new level.
I had this place bookmarked for a while but when you do something crazy and outrageous like - I don't know - not really eat sugar, mostly eat keto, mostly do paleo, it's hard to keep up on your ever growing list of dessert places that you drool about. But that's a me problem. Moving on...
Friends were in town so we met up for dinner and, upon deciding that we were full but not too full for dessert, SnowFlake Shavery immediately came to mind.
For those new to or unfamiliar with the area, SnowFlake Shavery is in a strip mall on Spring Mountain just east of Decatur. But it's not just any strip mall; it's one packed to the brim with good eating. Therefore, parking can be a bit cramped.
The interior is small so don't roll deep and plan to sit around all day. Actually, most people seemed to order their shaved snow and leave.
Upon entering, we were immediately greeted by two cheery and welcoming individuals. Unfortunately, the second we saw the menu, one of our friends realized the flavor he had his heart on - strawberry - was already sold out. However, the team behind the counter checked and insisted they could eek out one more order's worth.
Excited, he placed an order for mango and strawberry.

His order ended up being my favorite. Both flavors were the perfect level of sweetness but not (prepare yourself for a favorite food show word that I try not to use but can't avoid here) cloyingly sweet. Also, I'm in love with the texture. First of all, the snow delicately layered and served is just absolutely beautiful. That texture carries through upon eating - it felt delicate, yet wonderfully cold and creamy with a really clean finish. I've had snow just once before and didn't think much of it. Clearly, I didn't have the real deal before.
Our other friend ordered green tea with red beans. I fail at life and didn't catch a photo of this but, again, the flavor was spot on.
Our third friend ordered the Cookie Dream, which is vanilla snow with chocolate sauce, topped with oreos.

This flavor was rather daunting. We all like the individual components but agreed something was off on the whole. I think if the cookies were more ground up they would complement the fluffy ice much better. Still yummy!
My husband and I decided to split a small custom cup of vanilla snow with chocolate whipped cream and passion fruit jellies.

Let me first say that the jellies were just ordered as a side to our snow because we were curious. They were okay. The pop and juiciness was great but my husband wasn't fond of the passion fruit flavor. Now, the snow was fantastic. The chocolate whipped cream was OHMYGOSHIWANTMORE good. I would seriously eat just a bowl of that but, with the snow, it was that much better. I'm now curious to try the other flavored whipped creams.
The portion of snow in a small was far more than my husband and I expected but, yet, we didn't feel completely stuffed at the end. The flavor and topping selection is well varied and the team was very knowledgeable of the product - proud, even (which I love)! In fact, one of our friends is now searching for similar treats in her area!
Our group was able to put all our orders on one loyalty card so we're halfway done with just one visit. All in all, I was not disappointed and plan to come back soon.
