| - Unfortunately, I never actually got to see Dr. Bourgault. My story starts 18 months ago. My insurance was changing and I needed to pick a new primary care provider. Based on recommendations from friends, we contacted Decatur Family Practice and inquired about registering Dr. Bourgault as our PCP. We were assured then that we could in fact choose Dr. Bourgault, and for the past year, my wife has had a really good experience. However, I did not need to visit the doctor in that time. That changed earlier this week, and I called Monday to schedule my first appointment. I was given a scheduled time 10 days out, and was patiently waiting for my date to arrive. 4 days into that wait, I received a call from the front office. They informed me that there was a problem with my insurance because I have selected Dr. Bourgault as my PCP, but that the doctor is not taking "new patients". My only option was to contact my insurance and find a new PCP, because I would not be able to keep my appointment with the doctor. There was no reasonable explanation for the sudden change in policy, and certainly no apology for wasting my time. It is no surprise to me that so many of the reviews here remark about how terrible the front office staff is. Those reviews are consistent with my experience, too.
