| - I'm a big fan of Shoppers Drug Mart in general, it's a convenience store on steroids and if you visit one of their Food Store locations there's a good chance you can skip an additional trip to the grocery store if you just need to stock up between your primary grocery store days. This Shoppers Drug Mart is located in the Kingsland Plaza just off Elbow Drive in-between Glenmore and Heritage, pretty solid location if you're in the neighbourhood. Surprisingly I've never had issue with parking here, even though the Plaza looks a bit squishy.
This Shoppers Drug Mart is pretty well organized, clean and overall well maintained. It also includes the "Food Store" element which is great for stocking up loose ends between grocery stock trips. It's also worth taking a look at some of their food options regardless as they have some niche snacks and treats you don't find elsewhere. Now that they've partnered with President's Choice their food selection continues to improve and even includes PC Chocolate Chip Cookies!!! NOM NOM!
You'll find the cosmetic and beauty section right when you enter, the staff in this section are always well trained and helpful. I also like how the vitamin/nutrition/supplement has its own "section" at the back of the store rather than being in an aisle. I find it more open and easier to navigate in this format. They also do a great job organizing by brand and type for vitamins/supplements at this location, I shop this area a lot and it can be pretty bad at other Shoppers locations. The Food Store area also gets its own true area and is well organized as well, they have quite a bit of variety including fresh dairy and select meat products! Pretty good frozen food choices as well.
There's also 1-2 clearance item sections depending on the day. They always have one kind of hidden in the back corner of the store by the drinks and freezers, and then sometimes there's another "pop-up" one by the stationary on a mobile shelf. Its worth taking a quick glance as you get can some great deals sometimes although the majority tends to be items most wouldn't want (just make sure you're aware of potential expiry dates).
The Pharmacy here is hit and miss, the Pharmacy Assistants are nice enough but the owner doesn't seem happy a lot of days and can be borderline rude at times. Another semi-frequent issue I've encountered is sometimes they only have one cashier open and it can line-up pretty quick. One trick is you can actually cash out in the Beauty Section if it's busy ;-). Some cashiers are also more friendly/helpful than others, I've had some who are picky about the coupons having to be physically printed even though the disclaimer says you can just show your phone, hmm... Overall it's a great store and I go a lot, just the odd exception every now and then as noted above.
Some general tips when shopping at Shoppers Drug Mart (any location): The Shoppers Drug Mart Optimum Rewards Program is one of the best in loyalty/rewards programs in Canada. If used correctly you can get about 40-50% back with pretty minimal effort (just shop on the right bonus days and redeem on bonus redemption days). You can make it even more lucrative with coupons and other tricks, Google it for more info, "Mrs January" has a great guide on it! Also sign-up for their e-mail and physical mailing list, you'll get a ton of bonus offers and coupons. Lastly take advantage of seasonal items when they're on clearance, lots of items 20-60% off!
