| - I can't say enough good things about my time at Camden Gallery. The studio floor plan layouts are the best in town, the space plan really feels like a separate bedroom much more than a hotel room. Ample cabinet and closet space, superior finishes, and building amenities really separate Camden from the competition. Though I didn't take advantage of all of the amenities, they are great as well. The pool is very social, and the grills and outdoor kitchen are wonderful. Several of my guests commented that the pool at Gallery felt like a resort. The pool table in the community room is a fun way to kill some time on a rainy day. The gym is always clean, and the selection of equipment is excellent. The computers and printer in the business center are always accessible and stocked. The rooftop terrace is very nice, TVs at the pool and on this terrace are a nice feature.
Noise was very important to me when I was selecting a residence. I was blown away by how quiet the building is. The floating floors and insulated walls provide superior isolation. Most tenants have dogs, and there is a baby living in the unit around the corner from me. I never hear them in my apartment. I can say my apartment is on the opposite side of the dog park, and faces away from the pool. I look over the light rail station, and unless you're listening for it or your window is open, you don't notice the train noise. I am a musician and needed to practice in the unit sometimes, I informed my neighbors when I moved in and they were very supportive, and never complained if my saxophones bothered them.
Gallery's Southend location is tough to beat, I chose it mainly because it was within walking distance of my office. Two restaurants and a craft beer shop in the building couldn't be more convenient. Also within walking distance are 20+ bars/restaurants, 3 breweries, and 2 grocery stores. The access to light rail and rent-a-bikes really expound the accessible locations around Camden. There is ample guest parking at meters around the building, and on the first level of the deck.
The property management staff was nothing short of excellent. Jamie, Katy, Caryn, and Jo are always friendly and willing to help, going the extra mile to make residents their top priority. I only had a couple of maintenance requests, but they were handled quickly and professionally by the capable maintenance staff. They work hard to keep the building clean and safe, and its certainly noticeable. Not every building has management on site Saturdays and Sundays, that is a benefit to the occupants.
The only constructive criticism I could provide would relate to the forced valet trash and technology packages that add $125 to the monthly rent. The trash chute is right next to the parking garage, so it was just as easy for me to take out my own trash. It seems every property in Southend has valet trash service, so Camden is not alone here. The technology package is expensive and inconvenient. I had to reset my cable box at least once a week, I would have liked to have the option to only have internet and use either apple tv or sling along with Netflix and Amazon video, instead of AT&T Uverse. The account is with the building not the tenant, so getting the $10/month HD upgrade was cumbersome and complicated with billing issues, and because of that no mobile services are available. I can say the internet service was reliable, don't recall any outages in my time here. There were a couple of annoying power outages that affected the fob access around the building and the gate to the parking deck.
