Went to Coco Fresh for the first time today. I was intrigued by the idea that this company is the biggest bubble tea chain with over 1000 stores.
The shop is located in the Peachtree plaza around Hwy 7 & Kennedy. It is a brightly lit, inviting space.
Coco Fresh is part of the Vicinity card group of companies (like many of the popular bubble tea places) where you get 1 point per drink. Like many other bubble tea places, a list of the most popular flavours is displayed prominently above the order counter.
I ordered the bubble gaga which is passionfruit flavoured tea with coconut jelly and tapioca. They allowed me to substitute grass jelly for tapioca. Sugar and ice levels can be customized. I opted for less sugar (30%) and less ice. This drink was very refreshing but for a regular size, I found it somewhat pricey at $4.75.
They currently have a Spring weekday happy hour special from 2pm to 6pm where you can buy a large chocolate tapioca milk tea or taro sago milk tea for $3.50. Had I gone to Coco during that time frame, one of these drinks would have been my choice.
What I found a little disappointing was that this particular location does not offer wintermelon which is a common and popular flavour. Apparently the Scarborough location does carry wintermelon flavour but it seems strange to me that it is not carried at all locations.
Despite this, I did find the drink I ordered refreshing and I am keen to try some other flavours before rendering judgment on this bubble tea company.
