| - Although I rate this "Meh. I've experienced better" I can't say that I have - because honestly, in terms of Apple Stores in Toronto, there's not much.
I find the place teeny tiny with low ceilings and poor ventilation. It smells, it's hot, and not to mention everyone has giant jackets (winter time). It's not pleasant.
Way too many people stuffed in here, not only customers and people using the internet, but lots of blue shirts. All is good with this, and it should be like this. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable, and kudos to the everyone in here who is patient with all types of customers.
This location doesn't have the luxury of expanding out into the table in the middle of the aisle (like Yorkdale). I'm curious if this helped with the crowdedness inside.
Saturday at 12pm I made a Genius Bar appt in store for 3:30pm. I returned, but had to wait over 45 mins for my turn (and went out to pay my meter twice, it's $$$!). They say they are short staffed, but it kills me because the store is at least 30% blue shirts.
It would be nice to have each person identified on a larger scale by their expertise, like GENIUS, SALES, CHECK IN, etc.
Checking in, you have to ask someone who will point to someone else who's holding an iDevice and with a distinguishing characteristic (today was a beard).
You're in a queue, but it's not shown on the screen above the Genuis Bar like it used to be. So you have to keep asking him.
When it's finally your turn, you get called loudly by someone. In such a crowded area, it's hard to hear.
When I finally got to meet with someone, they came to me and did everyone on an iDevice. (This is nicer cuz in the past, you'd have to wait in line at a counter to a person with a laptop).
The whole thing was straight forward, and took less than 10 mins, including payment.*
If you have an Apple Store that is closer to you and less busy, I suggest going there.
The other problem with such busy-ness is that, it's not comfortable at all to come in here and peruse all the iDevices.
One thing I do wish for this location, is to improve the air flow and maybe have a window or something to let in more light (as opposed to feeling like you're in a cave). Went to the Apple Store in Hong Kong, and even with such expensive rent over there, the store was a completely different experience.
*in case you're wondering, the pins on my Ipod Touch got destroyed, and it cannot be fixed. $150+taxes to swap it for a brand new one (device only, not the box, and 90 days warranty).
