  • 2 out of 3 times they have had at least one good jazz CD for me to add to my collection. Last night I found a Classics (Jelly Roll Morton) and many others for later. The used CDs are downstairs. Hint: the new arrivals are in the corner closest to the stairs. Check there first. There are also tons of old magazines (music) and books about music. I've yet to find anything must own jazz wise such as a Penguin guide but they have tons of rock oriented reading. On the ground level and upper floor are the non music books--pretty much everything on every subject by every writer. Ok, I write that as somebody who does not buy many books but they seem to have something for everyone. I could easily pick up over one hundred titles here on any given night. It is also just a nice store to browse in. Hours are good too--it is nice to be able to pop in on the way home after seeing an intense documentary at the Bloor. The prices for used CDs are some of the best in the city. Books are very well priced too. The DVD box sets are behind the counter so you kind of have to know what you are looking for and then ask for it. I have never tried selling anything back here. BMV is a real gem within the Annex. Very highly recommended!
