  • Pho Kim Long... I know I'll probably end up coming at 2:00 in the morning still, but this last time was whack as hell. Story time: Vegas clubbing leads to late night pho at the top spot for it in Chinatown. Twenty-four hours a day, crowds of people come and wait to enjoy a nice steamy bowl of noodles. This place is only good at night when you get the drunchies but that's not the point. On a weekend in April when we were here, PKL's handling of a pretty scary situation left me annoyed and upset at the management. My friends and I were seated near the main doors where the bouncer and customers were waiting to be seated. We were eating our food and was simply letting time pass for us to sober up from going out. Well, sober up we did. Before we knew it, something had happened where the glass door shattered and people started screaming and running into the restaurant. Someone shouted "gunshots" and immediately chaos ensued. A few of us in my party ducked and ran towards the back, while others used toppled tables for protection. You can't even imagine the level of uncertainty and fear that everyone was facing. We ended up finding out that someone had smashed the front door with a crowbar out of frustration at the bouncer. We knew the restaurant had to close and we knew leaving was the best place for us to feel safe. I come to find out out later that the management demanded everyone to still pay for their food despite being completely frazzled- my friend included. It's one thing to demand everyone pay versus suggesting it when the entire restaurant had just erupted in pure chaos. To me, this came off as not caring about your safety and more-so making sure nobody leaves without first paying despite cops on scene and folks frantically trying to figure out what had happened. The management will likely remain the same so this was simply story time for those out here late at night. Be safe because you never know what could happen!
