| - My husband and I ate here last night, and it exceeded my expectations! We both tried the MasterCard tasting menu, which came with a variety of dishes to try and two "mini cocktails." The staff was extremely accommodating and tweaked my husband's dishes since he does not eat seafood.
We started with guacamole, which was creamy and spicy (but not too hot). It was served with warm tortillas instead of chips. We had more guacamole than we could eat with the tortillas, so we ate some with the other courses as a garnish. Our first cocktail was the salt air margarita, which was delicious. The salt foam was fun and tasty. Next I had the tuna ceviche, which I would never have ordered, but it ended up as my favorite dish. The dim sum course was ok (the siu mai was flavorful). The veggie rice was really great - I can see why other reviews have complimented it so frequently. The spicy shrimp was cooked perfectly and packed a punch. We had spicy noodles (which I think was a replacement for the shrimp for my husband) and it was awesome too. The texture of the noodles made me think they were home made. The taco was good (pork I think?) but not as unique as a lot of the other dishes (we still ate every bite of it). The last cocktail was something with bourbon and grapefruit, which was a crazy combo, but it worked. Dessert was churros in a delightful chocolate sauce which I could have drank straight from the cup.
I would give this 4.5 stars if I could. If we were in town longer, I would go back and try more things (or even just order the guacamole, cevice and rice again!!). I totally recommend China Poblano and will definitely return in the future!
