| - Music sure has a way of transporting one back in time. If you don't have a tune in your head before you walk in here, you will have one when you walk out. Zia is a great place to browse for brand new or vintage music on vinyl or CDs, plus books, comics, nostalgic candies/sodas or eccentric gifts. Browse as long as you like, the crew here is nice and helpful--they don't bug you while you're looking around, but if you have a question, someone is always available.
Been here a number of times, but it was hubby's first visit. He already had a sizable library of vinyl which has followed him over the years, yet he had a blast perusing the new/vintage vinyl collections while I scoured the bargain bins at floor level. If you like estate sales and yard sales, you will dig their bargain bins! The only thing is, you'll want to bring something to sit on (I borrow their plastic milk crates, but they're not that sturdy). Otherwise, you'll be sitting or crawling on the floor to get at the dust bargains. For the two for $1.50 price tag, it's worth the effort. I again found many unique recordings, including a treasure of one of the Three Kings of the Blues--Albert King. Original, not remastered or reissued. Couldn't wait to put it on the turntable. My 75 cent find shows a little wear on the cover, yet the vinyl is in pristine condition and sounds fantastic!
It's a bit challenging to describe every type of thing you can find at this Zia location, so I recommend people just stop by and stroll around the shop. It's in a center that has a variety of businesses, maybe make an excursion of it by having some breakfast, pastries, or lunch before walking over to Zia Records.
