| - After growing out my hair for 7 months or so it was getting quite long and I decided it was time for a change. I am new to the Calgary area so what is the best way to get suggestions for hair salons? Yelp of course!
I found the reviews to be quite consistent with the higher stars so I thought "hey, I'll give it a try!" Want to know more? Ok, I'll tell you more!
It was a cold and frosty evening as I walked to the salon that Halloween night. I had already researched for weeks on what I wanted to do with my hair (because let's face it ladies, our hair is precious and you can really change your look by getting a new style)
As I stepped through the door I was greeted by two trendy ladies, one took my coat and the other walked me over to the waiting couch and offered me something to drink. I just had a coffee previously so I didn't need any fluids.
Within about 3 minutes my stylist came up to me and introduced herself. She was at the advanced level and I felt confident that we were going to make some magic! We sat down at her chair and I told her my hair story and what I wanted and didn't want. What I found strange was when I asked to see a colour sample book, she just brought out an iPad instead and we looked up pictures on Google, I wasn't too happy about this considering I knew exactly what colour I wanted and I just wanted to point it out. (Points on being tech savvy though, I guess.)
The colouring was frightening at first (how appropriate it was Halloween after all!) My roots were a different colour (and a colour that I specified that I didn't want) and the rest was not the exact shade I wanted either... But without me even saying anything she pointed it out and offered solutions. We decided on one and she got to it. The end result was good, I loved the colour and was glad that she was able to admit the colour was off fix it right then and there without me having to question or probe.
Overall, my stylist was friendly, knowledgeable and nice. (The price was also nice) when I went to pay the same two ladies helped me out again, one held my coat open and put it on for me which I found to be great customer service and I even got to raid their Halloween candy stash (you know the way to my heart, RedBloom)
