My tapas experience went only so far as Filipino tapa at home. Did you know that it's not the same thing? I didn't until I moved to Vegas. The tapas at Jaleo were culinary creations. We tried the bacon wrapped figs, the shrimp, the ham, the bread, something else I cant remember, but they were all great. My friend ordered everything for us because I was new to tapas. She's been to Spain - I didn't even know tapas originated from there - and she said that Jaleo served authentic tapas. Makes me want to go to Spain. We also ordered sangria which was like fruit punch - I wanted bottomless refills.
I often find that the best food is often not listed in the menu, and such was the case when we were given a complimentary special dish from the chef. It was this mushroom/mashed potato dish that is now on my list for one of the best things I ever ate.
The best is the scent of the food diffusing into the air from the grill and cooking station in the dining area. We wanted to sample everything cooking on there, but I wouldn't have been able to eat out for the next two weeks had we done that. Jaleo is pricey, but everything was well worth the price. I definitely would be coming back here next time I'm in the mood for authentic tapas (not the Filipino kind) and some gooooood sangria.
