  • So, you know me, I'm pretty particular about experiences. We stopped into Del Frisco's on the second Saturday night of Restaurant Week. Some restaurants really struggle with service during Restaurant Week and that's ok, I can actually understand that because they're slammed for 10 days straight. Del Frisco's, however, not only didn't struggle, they did a really impressive job for such a busy night. We stopped in about 60 minutes early in hopes of getting bar seats and having a drink. Check in at the hostess stand was easy and I was told we'd get a text closer to our reservation time. We went to the bar to find a couple available seats peppered here and there. Some nice guy at the bar changed his seat so at least the girls could sit down together. I was pleasantly pleased. We ordered a Pomegranate Martini, $15 (360 vodka, pomegranate liquor and splash of cranberry) and The V.I.P. $14 (Svedka clementine vodka infused with Hawaiian pineapple.) Glasses are large, the VIP tasted of pineapple only, the martini had some bite though. The bartenders didn't really engage with us but we were a group of 4, we were happy talking to each other. The couple next to us got up to leave and offered the men their seats as well. A couple my parents age got up when their table was called and patted an arm of one of our group and told us young folk to have a good dinner. Gotta say, the clientele here is great. (She called us "young folk"!!) We were texted 10 minutes before our reservation and walked to a very desirable banquette table on the lower floor overlooking the floor to ceiling windows. The hostess pulled the table out for us to get in the back and offered to come back later for pictures if we wanted, after we'd commented on how much we liked our table. The floor under the table needed a good sweeping, but it was a busy Saturday, no biggie. Water was quickly filled and we had a few minutes to look at the menu before we were approached by our front waiter Khaleel. Personality plus, he confidently walked us through the menu and offered time for questions or explanations of the menu, refills on the drinks (recognizing at a glance what each of us were drinking). He mentioned his back waiter was Courtney and that they'd be serving us as a pair. Piping hot sesame bread arrived from another person (oddly uncut, guests had to either rip or cut their bread with their table knives) with some whipped butter. It was mentioned online that all the sauces, salad dressings and breads are house-made every day. We all opted for the $35 Restaurant Week menus (how could you not? The filet alone was $42.95 on the regular menu!) with the men opting for the $15 upcharge to get Prime Ribeye. Our starters were the deconstructed Caesar salad or the spring salad. Both were nice small salads with homemade dressings. The Caesar dressing had a snappy anchovy taste and I LOVE that. Don't be afraid of anchovies in Caesar dressing, it's the secret behind it's delicious taste. I tasted my husbands Spring Mix salad and his Balsamic Vinaigrette was delicious, too. Our entrees arrived and the server invited the three steak eaters to cut into their steaks to check temperatures. All three (2 Prime Ribeyes, 1 filet) had been ordered med-rare. One ribeye and one filet went back to the kitchen because they were still rather cold and blue inside. The server (I guess his job was to serve entrees) was surprised and not happy, not unhappy with us, but unhappy the guests weren't happy. He took them back and we had them back on our table in about 5 minutes. The manager and Khaleel both had been told that two steaks went back and both came over to our table to check on them. I like the service here. !! I had ordered crabcakes and I'm iffy about them. I guess I'd have to say the freshly handcut veggies sprinkled within them were a little too large and ended up overpowering the taste of the delicate crab, as did the Cajun lobster sauce. But the crabmeat was silky and chunky and these lovely, hand-formed, un-uniform patties showed they were made in-house. My one complaint of the night is the heavy hand on the salt shaker in the kitchen. I'd read numerous reviews about how salty dishes are here. I had opted for the housemade Chateau potatoes as my side because of how chunky they were and had skins . They were yummy but had a lot of salt, my salt headache before I'd finished the entree was testament to that. Same complaint from the other 3 diners. Dessert was a choice of a lovely, light, airy cheesecake with strawberry sauce or a salted caramel chocolate mousse. I'd asked Khaleel for his opinion earlier and he firmly said the mousse. We got two and two and I actually was much more a fan of the cheesecake. Checks were brought promptly. Service for the most part was impeccable on a very busy Saturday night Restaurant Week. I look forward to going back on a more traditional night because I imagine it's even better.
