| - Monterey Bay Fish Grotto seems a little off into the distance compared to the other restaurants on the street, giving it a slightly more unique view of Pittsburgh. We loved our view. It was gorgeous and definitely one of the best views I've seen of Pittsburgh, especially at night. This is the place to go to for an amazing view.
The food, however, was just okay, from the calamari to the sushi rolls to the dessert. We tried the Cathedral roll, Carson St. roll, and 446 roll. The best was the 446, which came in 11 pieces and had shrimp tempura, spicy salmon, eel, and avocado. We thought the other two were eh, okay. Dessert was the apple tart--good, but didn't blow us away or anything.
Service was very good! Our server seemed to really care about us, and the manager went around introducing himself to tables, chatted a bit, and came back to check up after we got our food. And--I have to say it again--the view is one of the best you'll get of Pittsburgh. Come here for the service and view, but there are definitely a few disappointments on the menu. I would say still worth the trip though!
