| - What can i say. I am a matcha lover. Due to today's hot weather, I had a craving for soft serve icecream. So, my friend suggested to go toTsujiri at Dundas. I am always hesitant to go because there always seemed to be a long line up whenever I go. Surprisely, I went to the store around 5pm today, there were only 2 people in front of me. One was my friend, ah ha. I love how they decorate the place with a slight Japanese flair and high stools. At the back end of the shop, there was a lower height table and it almost seemed like it is "tatame" style.
Each of the server carried a warm smile, and it was extremely inviting to be at the store. They have a wonderful selection of different green tea products. I particularly wanted to tried their matcha pastry, but they don't carry it anymore. I was slightly disappointed, but my goal was matcha soft served icecream, so I am content with that.
After contemplating different items on the menu, I decide to get the matcha icecream with red bean filling. The price is a little steep $6.50 plus tax ($5.75 for icecream with waffle cone and $0.75 extra for the red bean topping). To be honest, I was expecting something spectacular. However, the server did what she could to secure a scope of red bean topping on the side of the icecream. It kind of reminded me of the "pisa" tower. I am thinking, "Omg, my very expensive icecream, please do not topple over." Sitting on one of the really high chairs, I ate it with really fast speed. The flavour was really good, and it pairs really well with red bean topping. I liked the experience overall.
But, I wouldn't come back anytime soon unless I need a green tea fix.
