I flew Allegiant airlines flight 540 to Monterey and they STOLE my GoPro! Do not fly with them.
I have flown with Allegiant several times and I understand the budget airline idea. I'm not expecting outstanding service just don't cheat, steal or lie to me. I choose Allegiant for this trip because they were the only ones that fly to the airport closest to my family. It was a short flight, I got there in plenty of time and checked in fine. However, when I unpacked my suitcase I found that someone had opened it up, open a zipped compartment, removed my GoPro from it's handle and stolen it! I figured I would call customer service but they don't have a customer service phone number.
I had to go back to their office at the airport to file a claim. While I was explaining to the Allegiant agent what had happened they told me that they have been having that happen a lot lately. After I filed my claim the airline send me a generic reply email that pointed out cameras are one of the many things they assume no responsibility for and there is nothing they will do. They would not give me a number to call and speak with anybody. I tried following up with them several times and I get the same generic email over and over.
I filed a police report in the hopes it sheds light on Allegiant's negligence and filed a report with the TSA.
Calculate the true cost! $40 to ship a bag that they accept 0 responsibility for. Make sure you add in travel insurance for the many ways they can screw you and DO NOT BUY the insurance from them. They created a racket where they create as much risk as possible in your trip then try and overcharge for the insurance that you wouldn't need with other carriers or can buy online for a third the cost. No wonder they are based in Vegas with these mob tactics.
Never Again.
