  • I've had Nadege macarons before at a wedding as favors. They were good and comparable to ones like Butter Avenue and the like. Pricing is also similar though I think Nadege is maybe a few cents more for each macaron. They have other locations including Yorkdale and I haven't been to the other ones before. This one is in Scarborough Town Center on the upper floor near the food court and is in a pink and white standalone stall. The closest entrance is probably the movie theater. I know Nadege sells other things, but since this is a small standalone stall they only sell macarons. As I was figuring out what I wanted, I noticed that some of the macarons looked a bit clumsily made - as in the two cookie sections weren't evenly placed to make a lopsided macaron and they didn't seem as clean/neat looking as macarons at other places too. The ones I got at the wedding were much nicer-looking... perhaps because they were specially made. I decided to get a rose macaron ($2.60) just to try as this was my first time at a physical location. The girl working there immediately tried to get me to buy a box of 6 that had "no tax" and she did the same to a teenage girl who came after me. I explained to her that this was my first time there and I just wanted to try. Then she suggested that I buy 2 macarons ($6) just in case I didn't like a certain flavor. I relented because I didn't mind trying an extra flavor but her pushiness was definitely a turnoff. Especially because the look on her face made it seem like she wasn't enjoying her job at all and just wanted me to buy something and get out of there. I really dislike pushy salespeople. If I wanted that or was prepared for it I would have gone to an Asian store or Pacific Mall and that was an immediate turnoff especially for a store that is basically selling a luxury good... though maybe that's what I should expect going to a stand in a regular mall instead of an actual store. CF has been making their malls more upscale for quite a while now... STC is the last one to undergo this transition and Nadege is a part of that. For that to truly work you need better service to go with the upscale stores... the cookie part of the macarons themselves were really soft and it seemed like they had absorbed some moisture because eating them was a bit of a messy experience - they fell apart really easily. Again, the ones I had at the wedding were much better. The pistachio and strawberry was good. The rose macaron was a bit overwhelming for me and had an incredibly strong floral taste. I guess the girl was right after all, but I still think I'll pass on this location in the future. Edit: They reached out to me and addressed my issues, which I appreciated so I added a star. I do hope they continue to improve in the future and continue to strive for the quality that I know they're capable of!
