| - First off, this place markets itself as fine dining. Small portions, multiple courses, and an increased price tag. I'm okay with these 3 things as long as two components are achieved: 1.) I get amazing service and 2.) the food is incredible.
Sad to say, this was not the case at all. My bf and I went there for our anniversary dinner. He's a picky eater and we thought this would be the perfect place since you can cross off foods you don't want to try. When he crossed almost everything off, the waiter glared at him. Yes, glared. My bf laughed nervously and apologized for his pickiness. The waiter was not amused. Due to that one interaction, my bf proceeded to feel like he had messed up our evening and felt deflated the rest of the night.
How dare an establishment that stays in business due to customer service make anyone feel that way! It was not the waiter's place at all. He was hardly attentive, and like previous people have stated, they don't ask you how your meal is, if you liked something, etc. They grab your plate (and in our case, leave our empty glasses on the table for 15 minutes at a time) and disappear.
The food was salty and flavorless. They fed my bf the same dish FOUR TIMES. You can only do tomato sauce and pasta so many times chef! For a place that calls itself innovative, their effort was pitiful. The uni with a squid ink biscuit was awful, the duck breast was flavorless, the quail extremely salty, the shrimp tasted of plastic, and the wagyu was not wagyu. It was overly cooked but at least tasted okay. The kangaroo my bf ate made him sick halfway through our meal. The only good part about our evening was the dessert.
For $230, this place should've been amazing. Instead, I saw a chef who stood there doing nothing, a waiter who made my bf feel awful on our anniversary, and an establishment whose prices should be made to be $5 per plate, if that. This is not fine dining unless you think of "fine" in the mediocre sense. I won't be coming back.
