| - I got a pair of heel plates put on my shoes when I happened to be in the area. I had been going to another shoe repair shop closer to my house, but the price seemed to be inching up. Therefore, thought I'd give this place a shot since I was right there, anyway. I mean, I didn't even know it was there. It's in a shopping center that has Safeway as its anchor.
The owner was very pleasant, and I talked to him about having some actual repair done. Thought about, keeping what he said in the back of my mind. He was very helpful and friendly. Gave me some good information about shoes, something I don't feel I would have gotten from the person I used prior.
Well, I had a pair of patent leather shoes. It is a very well-known name brand, usually thought of as "higher end." The straps starting wearing right away. Being patent leather, I don't wear them that often since I don't like looking at scuffed shoes, and that type of material scuffs really easily.
The strap ended up breaking, which means I could no longer wear them. I wore them as long as I could, but, alas. I took them to MVP, got a quote to have the strap redone, clean the fabric, since they're wedges, asked about a nick at the toe; thought I'd let the nick go. Cleaning the wedges, well, I figured I could use some kind of cleaner and do it myself.
Picked up my shoes. The shoes are, once again, wearable. The part repaired is behind my heel, and I usually wear it with a long pant set; therefore, would be hard to see. They did some extra -- like cleaning up the fabric and glued the nick. I'd say I'm very pleased to again being able to wear the shoes. It is out of the way of where I live, but I'll drive the distance to get work done.
The counter and repair shop is in the back of the store. Walking in the door, it has lots of clothes, shoes, and jewelry for sale, a lot of it for $1 or $2. I'm thinking they're things picked up at a second hand store.
The store is clean, and doesn't have that "shoe repair store" smell. I will definitely return. They do, indeed, treat their customers like MVPs.
