| - How did I miss reviewing this one???
I check out this shop whenever I have a dental appointment as my dentist is in the Village--so at least 3 times a year. It is hit or miss, depending on what I'm looking for. The late few times I've picked up a TV series on DVD; they always have something on my list. Before that I've found a few jazz CDs or non jazz CDs.
In general, the selection is good if you are seeking more "mainstream" stuff--Joy Division, Cure, Depeche Mode, 60s rock, 90 alternative, all the current music that sounds like music from the 60s-70s-80s-90s--they generally have a good selection of that. If you are looking fore rarer treats, you probably wont' find it here. (Go to Sonic Boom).
The jazz selection is pretty limited but again, I have found gems including a Bill Evans CD (Conversations with Myself). Hint--check the front left side. They have had one of the essential Louis Armstrong boxed sets before.
Prices are very fair--a little below or even with the other shops.
Worth mentioning: it feels very relaxed in here and is never too crowded which makes for good digging, especially on a hot summer day.
I have never had an issue with a CD (or DVD) skipping.
The guys at the cash are always nice and chatty if you feel like talking. They have often offered me extra CD cases.
They have even bought back a few DVDs.
I can't recall but feel like they do special sales from time to time.
If you are still buying physical media, this is a great store to check out. Bonus--super easy to reach as it is just a few steps off the Yonge Subway!
