| - The Writer's Block is one of my favorite places in all of Las Vegas. It's about time an independent book shop opened up here.
The owners, Drew and Scott, have done a fantastic job curating the selection. They've managed to create a welcoming, relaxing space a short walk from the Fremont Experience.
The titles that fill the shelves here remind me of Small World Books on Venice Beach. They boast a wide selection of books from both independent and large publishers, a gorgeous children's collection, collectibles that I haven't otherwise come across in other stores (I'm eyeing you, Guillermo del Toro Cabinet of Curiosities).
The staff / assistants are extremely friendly and helpful, but not aggressive.
There's even a space in the back where the owners hold workshops, host talks, etc. It's a perfect space for tutoring, mentoring, and working. The guys certainly should know how to do this the right way, considering one of the owners co-founded 826NYC, a nonprofit that taught creative writing to kids and creative writing instruction to teachers in New York.
Did I mention that fake bird adoption program and their resident rabbit, The Baron? be sure to look up while you wander the store. There are always hidden gems tucked away in corners.
