Our group of six recently tried Taqueria Guadalajara for dinner. We arrived around 7 on a Wednesday evening. The place was crowded but they were able to seat us in about 15 minutes.
The menu was filled with dishes which aren't on every other Tex Mex menu. Between unusual meats like tongue, stomach, and intestines, they offered huaraches: oblong masa base, covered with refried beans, choice of meat, green salsa and melted cheese; sopes: deep fried thick tortillas with raised edges, topped with beans and your choice of meat; and gorditas: deep fried pockets of corn meal dough filled with your choice of meat cooked in a green sauce. It was a pleasure to see some non-ubiquitous dishes.
The chips came in the colors of the Mexican flag and were served with a fresh flavorful salsa. I had the enchiladas verdes. The rice and beans were just the right texture and the sauce was amazing. I practically licked the plate clean. One of my friends had the huaraches and she said she would be willing to eat that everyday for a week, it was so good. Everyone enjoyed their food and thought the flavors and textures were spot-on.
