Phoenix Sky Harbor is a pretty awesome airport! Been here many times and love how easy it is to fly in and out of and how comfortable I feel when here
They have many different non generic franchise food options inside and outside of the gates . My favorite coffee shop "The Cartel Coffee Lab" is a totally winner and many of the Phoenix restaurants have airport version as well.
The airport is very easy to navigate and in my experiences the TSA has been pretty friendly down to earth people that don't act like they hate their life / most airport TSA workers. Super clean with moving walkways and lots of shopping areas.
I have experienced some pretty cool promotional groups asking for peoples opinions and a Facebook Virtual Reality demo before you go to security. They also have an art and cultural museum that I wish they had at every airport. It is great to learn about the state and city you are visiting and this airport does a really cool job of it. You sometimes find it on the walls around the airport, but I enjoy how this airport does it as well as the wall artwork. They also use nice accents to nightlight the outside structure and the gates which give you that Desert Santa Fe feeling. So.... my only gripe about this place is the bleeping rental center. I have no clue who thoguht it would be a good idea to build it 6 miles down the road from the airport. In its defense unlike BWI which is also very far from the airport you don't have to wait on the busses here and the collection of cars here are really extensive.
I really enjoy this airport and think it is a 4.5 which I will round :)
