Was visiting from California and since I don't have a bottomless wallet to gamble with, I decided to check-out Polecats aerial silks classes. This studio uses MindBodyConnect services to show class schedules and have students sign-up. On MindBodyConnect the class I was interested in prompted me to call the studio. I left a message and Karley returned my call in a timely manner. In the meantime I discovered the $29 for $60 worth of classes on Yelp. I communicated this to Karley and she made it work! I was waitlisted and she mentioned that if someone dropped out of the class I was interested in then she'd call in advance to let me know. Wonders of all wonders, she called 2.5 hours before class and said there was an open spot! Because of my Yelp deal I got to take a beginner's aerial class from Kris and one from Karley.
Kris is a petite dynamo who is a lot stronger than she first appears. This class was a little slow for me, because I'd done silks before. It'd just been awhile for me. However, Kris was able to teach me a couple of new moves using a knot and challenge me with a couple of conditioning techniques.
Karley is the brains behind Polecats and is very excited about pole, lyra, and aerial sports in general. She listed a couple of exercises for us to do as warm up then had us inverting as it was a small class and we all had exposure to silks before.
The studio is in a strip mall and is a playland of silks, pole, and lyra. The ceilings are not super high and so this would be a great place to go if you are brand new to aerials. If you're in Vegas and want to see what the Cirque du Soleil thing is about and ran out of money from gambling then check-out Polecats. Don't forget to use the Yelp voucher too!
