A cupcake shop right next to the restaurant I was eating at? What a perfect senario. After dinner I can get some cupcakes for dessert.
Just like Mich R. said in his review already, they do in fact ice the cupcakes to order. There are tons of flavours to choose from and they even have a display which has a single cupcake shown with label. The labels which do not have a cupcake on display means they do not have those available. Makes sense to me.
Ordered 4 cupcakes for $11.50 - I saved $0.50 since ordering them individually costs $3 each. Wow, I just sounded so cheap and Asian. I'm allowed to say this because I too am Asian.
I'm not too sure about the one star reviews here but I can say for certain that the cupcakes are not that bad. And trust me. I have eaten a lot more cupcakes than I should have and probably eaten enough cupcakes than most people would eat in their life time. Not something I'm proud of but......
Jay C. mentions that the icing is generic. I actually find the icing to be the star of the show here. Many cupcakes I have had the icing is really thick and has almost like a peanut butter texture to it. The icing here though was super light and not overly sweet. It wasn't whipped cream light but definately different from your standard cupcake icing. I tend to remove half the icing on alot of the cupcakes I have eaten because its too sweet but the icing here was so good I actually ate it all. The cake part was soft and moist like it should be.
Alex S. mentions that these cupcakes are Betty Crocker type quality cupcakes. I don't know about the rest of you but I have used Betty Crocker cake mix before to make cupcakes and mine turned out fantastic. Not as good as the ones I can get here at The Cupcake Place but still I think I could whip up a pretty decent cupcake with Betty Crocker cake mix. Shame on you for talking down Betty Crocker.
