| - As a pilot, my expectation upon arriving for the 737 Simulator Experience was that of a professionally presented and fully functioning 737 Flight Training Device (non-motion). As a pilot, I was disappointed by the time we got the engines started, and got more so as we went on.
Instead of being a 737 simulator, it is Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 with a 737 shell built around it. It's great for an amusement ride, but not for a serious pilot, unless you are just practicing flows and procedures and dont require the actual response/performance from the sim. What do I mean?
Autothrottles - The throttles don't move when the A/T are engaged.
Speed Brake - When armed, does not physically move upon touchdown, whether or
not the actual speed brakes deployed are still a mystery to me.
Trim Wheel - The thumb switch does not make the trim wheel on the pedestal spin.
Trim - VERY oversensitive (1 quick push would send the plane in a 500-1000fpm
climb or descent, yet a full push on the control comumn elicited a very slow
and gradual pitch change (Perhaps settings were reversed?)
Stick Shaker/Pusher - Makes sound, does nothing to control column. No pusher.
Steering - On ground, sim has you steer with feet rather than tiller
The instructor was very nice, but was more of a "simmer" than a 737 knowledgeable person. Don't get me wrong, the people there are nice, but the experience should NOT be "Fly a Real Jet" because a Real pilot would be disappointed with the experience if he has any knowledge of what a Real 737 flies like. Again, as an amusement ride, perhaps it is fine, but was very different than what I, as a knowledgable pilot, was expecting. Definitely not worth the flight from NY.
I waited a week to write this to be sure I did not create the expectation myself, and that my review was being fair. I looked through the videos, read all the descriptions, and still feel this is presented as a real 737 simulator - it is not. Sorry guys.
