There's a new doughnut shop in town that's geared towards the younger crowd rather than law enforcement. Such treats as bacon laced apple fritters and vegan choices abound. There are a few that are, as they put it, savory donuts that are essentially pizza filled donuts, lox smoked salmon capers and cream cheese filled, and caprese roasted tomato basil & mozzarella. Did not try one of these but can't wait to give the lox a spin next time.
The Vegan Rosewater was my favorite one. It was delicate floral and not overbearing, more subtle of the ones we tried. 4.5/5
S'more doughnut was an entire dessert. Heavy. It was a chocolate doughnut with a super rich chocolate filling and a white marshmallow puff cream that was slightly toasted on top with graham crumbles sprinkled over it. 4.5/5
Lemon Rosemary meringue had a really good cream and a nice creamy topping with a blue berry in the center. Loved this one. 4/5
Maple Bacon was a standard maple cream filled that had chopped maple bacon on top. Got this for the novelty and to finally try it. Not impressed. The doughnut bacon burps afterwards were really weird. 2/5
My girls favorite pick & my second place was the Strawberry Shortcake. Just as the name applies. A glazed doughnut with strawberry preserve in the middle and fresh whipped cream on top. So sweet and perfect! 5/5
All the doughnuts were a bit greasier than say KK or DD but then again that's the difference when buying handmade from scratch with fresh toppings and supporting local. It was great starting point to have a downtown Freemont st. adventure!
